The past two days i went on an overnight camp-out out at Buttle Lake. It a really beautiful lake up in Strathcona Park, somewhere out in the wilderness. And what can i say.. i had a great time. =) I didn't really know what i was getting myself into, but i'm really glad i went. It took us about an hour and a half to get out there.
And as soon as we arrived at Buttle lake, i was looking around for the Cabins. (The volunteering coordinator told me before we left that we wernt sleeping in tents, so being me, i presumed we were sleeping in cabins.) Well, was i ever in for a new experience. The leaders started hanging a rope from two trees, then hanging and staking an oversized tarp. That when it clicked. We weren't sleeping in cabins, oh no, not in tents, we were sleeping out in the open! And i know for some, thats no big deal, but that definitely wasn't on my list of things i'd ever have a want to do. But i couldn't go back now. And guess what? I survived! With only a couple bug bites lol. It was a really cool experience, one that im super happy i did.
But that not all. That day the group had an awesome opportunity to go to Strathcona park lodge and to do the ropes course/zip-lining up in the trees. So Funn! The ropes course , i guess you could say, is like an obstacle course high up in the trees. The zip-line took a little hike to get to the top, but it was so worth it! Two new thing i can add to my list of crazy things i've done. lol
Overall i had a great time =) And im starting to like camping more and more... And i would go back and do this in a heart beat, even the no tent thing.
